Before you get behind the wheel of a car in Canada, you had better make sure that you are insured. Every province and territory in the country requires drivers to have insurance, and driving without it is a costly risk, because you could lose your license as a result. Before you buy insurance, however, you need to take the time to do some research to ensure that you get the right type. The Basic RequirementsThe first thing you need to know is what you are required to have. All of the provinces and states require basic liability coverage for their drivers. This is coverage that will pay for damage you cause to someone else or his or her property. For instance, if you are involved in a car accident where you are the at-fault driver, your liability coverage would pay the medical bills and car repair bills for the other people involved in the accident. This is a common requirement in other countries. Canadian drivers must carry an addition coverage option, because when it comes to car insurance, Canada requires Accident Benefits/Bodily Injury coverage. This coverage will take care of your medical care and any loss of income you experience after a crash, even if you are the one at fault for the injuries. In other words, if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident and no one else is liable for your injuries, this coverage will cover them. Other Options to ConsiderWhile you are required to have Liability and Accident Benefits/Bodily Injury coverage to drive in Canada, you may wish to have additional coverage. Neither of these Canada insurance options covers damage to your vehicle that is not caused by another vehicle or driver. They also do not cover damage to your vehicle that you caused. Natural causes are also not covered. If a tree branch fell on your car and smashed in the roof, you would be stuck paying for the repair or buying a new car without any car insurance coverage. If you have a loan on your car, the bank will not be willing to take this risk. You will probably be forced to purchase additional car insurance for as long as you have the loan. The two additional policies that you may have to purchase if you have a loan are Collision and Comprehensive. Damage to your car in a motor vehicle accident, even if you are completely at fault, would be covered in a Collision policy. In fact, even if you drive the vehicle into something that is not a vehicle, you would be covered with a Collision policy. Comprehensive insurance covers non-motor-vehicle damage to your car. If your car were stolen, vandalized, or harmed by a natural disaster, this coverage would pay for the damages. That tree branch that fell on your car and smashed the roof would be an event covered by comprehensive coverage. Considerations When Buying CoverageWhen buying insurance coverage, you have to strike a delicate balance between affordable premiums and proper coverage. Some people buy too much insurance, and they end up paying more for their insurance coverage than is worthwhile when compared to the value of their car. Others buy too little insurance and end up with huge bills when they are in an accident. How can you best determine this balance? You need to know what your car is worth. Check the Blue Book value of the car, and then compare it to the amount you are paying in premiums. If you find that you are paying close to the value in premiums over two or three years, you may wish to drop a coverage option. Put the additional money aside into a savings account, and use that money towards repairs if you end up having an accident. If you do not have an accident, use that money as a down payment on your next car purchase, rather spending thousands on auto insurance that will only provide a few hundred dollars for your vehicle.

Even if you own your own car, rental services are sometimes essential for given situations. You might be going on holiday or taking a big trip which your normal run-around vehicle just couldn’t handle. Whatever the situation, if you are offered insurance on your car rental, just take a moment before signing on the dotted line, you may already be covered with your women’s car insurance. Duplicate Insurance A lot of women’s car insurance companies are very comprehensive and therefore if you are renting a car for hire the insurance may already have you covered. Buying duplicate insurance is expensive and totally unnecessary, particularly if you are insured with a women’s car insurance specialist which is likely to give you better cover than the standard policy offered by the car hire company. This is particularly useful if you want to save money whilst abroad on holiday but it is always worth checking before you go away how comprehensive your cover is. Not all women’s car insurance is valid for rental cars outside of the EU for example, so if you are travelling further abroad make sure you check your policy. Credit Card Insurance Even if you don’t own a car but do need to hire a rental for a couple of days, there are other avenues outside of personal women’s car insurance that can help you avoid paying a premium price with the rental company. If you have a credit card then somewhere in the small print there’s probably a bonus about being covered for car insurance. Different credit card companies have different regulations, some offer the service for free and others charge a small surcharge for the privilege. It’s possible that you have been paying for the bonus without taking advantage of it, so now is the time to check with your bank. Unlike being covered by a fully fledged women’s car insurance policy however, your credit card is only likely to cover you for a small basic model, so if you’re going to hire a smarter car, you will need to buy separate insurance. Car Repairs If your car is in the garage for a lengthy repair, then car hire is a necessary alternative for your travel arrangements. A number of women’s car insurance policies will pick up the tab not only for you to be insured on the rental car but to rent the car outright whilst your vehicle is being repaired. Don’t pay through the nose whilst your car is being patched up, check with your insurance company to see if your car rental is complimentary.

Car insurance is compulsory for everyone who drives a car. While buying a policy for their car, most of the people make haste and are usually impulsive. “Cheap” becomes the only “lens” through which they look at auto insurance policies. This might sound like an obvious and accurate approach but it could be a huge error.
Buying an Car Insurance policy, like most policies, is the kind of spending that people like to avoid, especially because of its recurring nature. Insurance is said to be an investment that repays itself incase of a mishap. In most cases, as it is observed, such accidents never happen. This leaves people with a feeling that their money is spent on an imaginary unpleasant incident that hardly ever, and in their own case, never, takes place.
However, accidents do take place. They may not affect everyone simultaneously but at one point of time or other someone could be seen in the middle of a severe adversity. This is precisely the premise which gave birth to the concept called “insurance”. Maximum people will pool money for the loss that might happen to someone among themselves.
It is crucial to know that the low-priced options are not necessarily the best options. In the eventuality of a disagreeable contingency people may perhaps discover that the insurance policy that they bought for their car was not the right choice. “Cheap” could turn out to be expensive. It denies the policy holder the benefit Car Insurance is supposed to provide in case of an accident.
Shopping for an insurance policy for vehicles such as a car doesn’t have to be complicated. A little knowledge about the basic concepts of insurance coupled with some common sense goes a long way in simplifying the whole process.
Before buying anything it is very important to gain knowledge of the product and know exactly what to buy from an array of options. This rule holds true for insurance too.
A few suggestions are to be kept in mind during the first purchase. These might look obvious but what is obvious is often overlooked. Purchasing first Insurance Policy for the car is no different then purchasing any other product. The insurer must have a good reputation and a well-respected brand. To evaluate an auto insurance company, a small survey should be conducted among a few people who had already patronized the company.
Internet has emerged as a great tool for comparison shopping. It allows the car insurance buyer to compare among the available options, read other people’s reviews and take a well-informed decision.
It takes a little effort to weigh Insurance Companies against each other and get the best policy but as the cliche goes, the juice is worth the squeeze. A little research will ensure best possible car damage cover for minimum possible premiums.
It is absolutely necessary to insure the car and buy the right policy. In the eventuality of an accident or theft, an all-inclusive insurance policy proves to be more effective in minimizing loss then an inexpensive one with just a basic cover.

Some people think of classic cars as the transport of eccentrics and TV detectives. Others consider them to be glamorous, expensive, and high maintenance status symbols. But the reality is that many classic cars simply do not fit these stereotypes. A classic car is easy to rave about but incredibly hard to define. Who is to say that a cherished Austin A40 in a supermarket car park is less of a ‘Classic Car’ than a Mark II Jaguar at Ascot? And that’s where you need to know what is and isn’t classic – it will make a huge difference to your car insurance premium.

Top tips for getting the best deal

•	It is widely reported in the motoring press that classic car insurance is far cheaper than a modern car policy but it is important to be vigilant and well informed.

•	The condition and scarcity of a classic can vary dramatically, and an owner’s perception as to the value of his beloved car can often be at odds with his insurer’s valuation in the event of a claim.

•	Search for a specialist insurer, they are more likely to provide specialist assistance and provide a better rate.

•	It is vital that you take out a guaranteed agreed valuation when insuring your classic car.

A genuine agreed valuation is the value guaranteed by the insurer should the car be written off or stolen. Make sure you check that your valuation is ‘guaranteed’, as some insurers have refused to pay out the full amount, despite the owner believing that they were fully covered.

Insurers may or may not make a small charge for an agreed valuation but it can be a false economy to omit it from your policy if the pay-out on your claim turns out to be hundreds or even thousands less than you thought. So, if you are surprised to learn that insurers consider your beloved 1970’s Datsun Cherry a classic, make sure you take care when choosing your car insurance policy!

A car as special as yours deserves a special kind of insurance policy. That’s where Peter Best Insurance can help. With over 21 years experience in arranging specialist insurance of classic cars, they are well placed to provide you with classic car insurance quote and guidance in selecting the best policy for your car.

Peter Best Insurance Services Ltd is a specialist insurance broker with over 21 years experience in the collectable cars, motorbikes and commercial vehicles markets. The business operates out of two offices in Essex – Maldon is the main office dedicated to classic cars including MGs, Morgan’s, 4x4s etc (01621 840400), while Kelvedon has certain car schemes for Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Saab, BMW, for example and classic motorcycles. (01376 573033). Collectable commercial vehicles are also catered for here together with kit cars.

With their interest in the classic market, they have also forged strong connections with many of the car clubs such as the Mercedes Benz Club and the MG Car Club. This enables them to offer discounted premiums to existing club members, providing they can supply their proof of membership.

They have a portfolio of insurers who have created a selection of policies specifically designed with the classic enthusiast in mind. These will offer the best levels of cover at a competitive price.

If you’re going to be purchasing a new car in the near future, you may want to think about how the car is going to affect your car insurance rates. Believe it or not, the car you choose will definitely affect how low or high your car insurance rates will be, but you can choose a safer car to ensure that you get low rate car insurance that is affordable. The following are some of the safest cars that you can buy and purchasing a safer vehicle will result in great savings on your car insurance.

Volkswagen Passat – In 2006, the number one rated family sedan for safety was the Volkswagen Passat GLX, which has a V6 engine. This car provided excellent safety features designed by Volkswagen and tested out to be the safest car in the family sedan category. If you want a nice family car that is fairly inexpensive and also very safe for your family, this is a great choice!

Toyota Camry – Still in the class of family sedans, the Toyota Camry came in second place in 2006, right behind the Volkswagen Passat. The Camry is a bit cheaper than the Passat, and also comes with great safety features that make it one of the best choices if you want a car that is safe for your family.

Volkswagen Golf – If you are looking for a smaller car, but you still want great safety, you may want to consider the Volkswagen Golf as your next choice. In smaller cars, the Golf won the number one spot for safety with the great safety features offered by the Volkswagen automaker.

Honda Civic EX – Another smaller car that was high on the safety list, scoring number two, is the Honda Civic EX. Once again, this car is a bit more cost friendly than the Volkswagen Golf, and it still comes with excellent safety features that will keep you safe and help you get lower car insurance rates. If you are purchasing a car on a budget but want to make sure it has great safety features as well, then this car is an excellent buy.

When you are looking around for a new car insurance policy you will find that you may be overwhelmed with choices. You need to remember the different levels of cover may also affect your premium.
Every car has an insurance grouping, this basically means that every car is put into a category of different levels of risk groups, this is something that you need to consider when buying a car
If you need to cut the costs on your car insurance then the best way is to sacrifice the fully comprehensive coverage and any money that you save by doing this could be added to a high interest savings account to save money for later on.
Another sure way of reducing your car insurance costs is to drive safely, having fewer tickets or accidents will reduce your monthly premium and will save you money both now and in the future. Acting responsibly when driving will not only save you money on your car insurance but will also keep both yourself and others safer on the road.
If you have more than one vehicle then always remember to ask your insurance company if you can receive any sort of discount for insuring more than one car with them.
The type of car you drive will effect your car insurance, generally the bigger the car the higher the insurance, to save money you could consider driving a smaller car with a smaller engine, this will reduce your car insurance quote.
Car insurance companies will offer discounts if you have safety equipment attached to the car, anti theft devices and air bags or similar equipment often do not get mentioned when applying for car insurance but could save a considerable amount of money.
If you park your car in a locked garage make sure you advise your insurance company of this as this could get you a safety discount
Ask about age discounts, some companies will offer a considerable discount if you are aged between 40- 50 and remember to only buy the cover you need, you may be tempted to add on additional cover or extras such as road side assistance however if you are someone that does not travel far this may be something you simply do not need.
If you have more than one car make the older or less valuable car the main car for any younger drivers in your household as age can have a big effect on car insurance. If you do have young drivers in your home a great way to reduce their car insurance is to take additional driving courses.
You may also want to consider changing your excess, this is the sum of money you would pay if you needed to make a car insurance claim. If you increase this amount your quote should go down.
Always get more than one quote when you do look around for car insurance, there are many easy and quick online forms that you could fill in to get a quote there and then.

In the recent past car insurance rates have increased, especially for young drivers which have resulted in problems for new drivers whose premiums are somewhat on the high side. However, young female drivers may need to pay less because they are a lower risk proposition. So, before purchasing auto insurance it would be wise to view the car insurance groups that a particular car falls into. There may be different grouping structures and the insurance premium goes up as you move up in these groups.
Don’t Be Mystified By The Different Premiums Charged
Many people that want auto insurance can often be mystified with the different policies and may have trouble understanding why the company is charging them the premium they are charging and how the type of car has an effect on such premiums.
It is thus important for you, as a car insurer to understand that you can get lower insurance premium costs by falling in a lower car insurance group and this can best be achieved by purchasing a car that falls in a lower category or group.
These auto insurance groups classify cars in a certain level of insurance and each car is assigned a group starting from one and ending at twenty. Such grouping allows each model of car to be banded with cars having similar features and a particular model of car can be spread in many groups.
There are many factors that come into play when classifying a car into a particular car insurance group, and these include the cost of repairing a car and costs of damage and parts, time required to repair the car, new car values, availability of body shells, performance of the car including acceleration and top speed, and the security features fitted as standard equipment by the manufacturers of different automobiles.
These auto insurance groups are not arrived at by individual companies, but by an association that represents car insurance companies in full. However, individual auto insurance companies may vary the groups based on their own experience. It is usual for family cars to fall into the six to twelve car insurance groups if they do not have high-powered engines. On the other hand, sports cars as also high-risk cars fall into the higher auto insurance group ratings and that would mean having to pay extra for your car insurance premium.
Among the lower auto insurance groups you would find cars such as Citroen, Toyota and Renault, and in the middle groups you can find cars such as Ford Focus, Mercedes A+ class as well as VW Polo. The higher group cars include BMW and Audi A4 while the highest group cars include Aston Martin and BMW M3 series. With these models in mind, you can get a rough idea as to which car insurance group your car falls into and when buying a new vehicle you can keep this in mind.

Need info on vintage car insurance for your prized possession on wheels? Then this article is just the thing for you.
According to general perception, vintage cars are seen as automobiles which are expensive and a symbol of high status. But contrary to popular belief, there are quite a number of old cars which are not glamorous or have a high cost of maintenance.
To the common car owner there is essentially little difference between a shiny Mark Jaguar and a proud Austin A40. But in reality, such automobiles, which have a high historical as well as exotic value, can technically be divided into three broad divisions. These are:-
-	Veteran cars – These are those cars which came into production before the year 1903.
-	Vintage cars – These are those cars which came into production between the years 1903 and 1933.
-	Classic cars – Technically, classic cars are defined as those cars which came into production before the year 1973 or at least 15 years ago.
What is surprising, however, is the fact that most insurance companies do not offer any special kind of Vintage Car Insurance. Though the definition of classic cars can vary widely and there are also variations within different insurers, most major insurance companies will usually provide you with a normal, simple insurance – not any different from the insurance of a modern car. However, if you want to get your precious vintage or classic car insured, here are certain handy tips you could follow:-
-	It is a general perception that Vintage car insurance or even insurances for classic cars are a lot easier on your pockets than the normal, modern-day car insurance. Even the recent press reports in the motoring circuits say so. But what is not so easily known is the fact that Vintage Car Insurance generally calculates limited mileage and also takes into account whether your vehicle has been garaged in less than perfect surroundings.
-	The owner of a classic car generally has a fair idea of what his car is worth. You might not always agree with what your insurer claims to be the value of your car. But make sure that both of you agree on a certain price well in advance because you can’t change it after your claim.
-	Getting in touch with a specialist insurer is also another great idea. If you want a good and competitive deal for your Vintage Car Insurance, then that might be your best chance. These specialist insurers tailor-make insurance schemes to suit your own benefit, and generally their rates are also higher than the normal market ones.
Agreed Evaluation – An agreed evaluation is that value which the insurer guarantees you if your car gets stolen or damaged beyond repair. If you want to get your Classic or Vintage car insured, be certain that you have the valuation which is guaranteed. This step is extremely important in your insurance procedure because there have been instances where insurers have refused to pay the entire sum even though the owner believes otherwise.
Thus to conclude, although vintage car insurance may cost you a pretty penny, for those who truly love and treasure their vintage beauties, it’ll definitely be worth the cost.
